The reality is more structured than that - and better than that. A common misconception is that flight training is mostly about logging enough hours. Hours matter, but knowledge matters just as much. If that part is weak, your flying will usually be less confident and less efficient.
Some students do best in a formal classroom setting. Others prefer one-on-one ground instruction or self-paced online study supported by an instructor. How long does pilot training take?

Your timeline depends on how often you fly, how prepared you are for each lesson, weather, aircraft availability, instructor continuity, and how quickly concepts click for you.
